What is a puppet maker? What is a puppeteer?
Looking for puppet makers in Australia? Try this instead.
The two main terms used when referring to people who do puppetry. Actually, the terms can often mean one and the same thing: most performers build their own puppets (or vice versa I guess), but also ‘puppeteer’ is a catch-all term which can include puppet makers who aren’t performers. Yeah, I know, it’s confusing isn’t it? But what do the different roles mean?

Aussie puppet companies celebrate anniversaries
2011 is a big year for many Aussie puppetry companies: four are celebrating pretty big anniversaries. In a country where puppetry is small and professional companies hard to sustain, it’s wonderful to see that long-term success is possible!

The video is an accompaniment to the Round Head Foam Puppet pattern. This is only a demonstration of the finished puppet. (PS. Yes, I know, I suck at performing! But then, I’m a builder not an performer!)







@Heiko, I haven't used anything like Plastidip before to cover handles, but it might work. So long as the substance is matte and black, and fully covers any reflective or light surface of the rods, of course. Why not try it out and see if it works?
