School of Puppetry on holidays through Jan 2012

I will be going on holidays throughout Jan, as it’s a slow time of year anyway. The past two weeks have seen a drop in visitors, and I personally would like a break. Two things before I sign off for the year:

A big thank you to each and every person who visited, bought a pattern/book, left a comment, promoted a page, or suggested future content.

Last year when I started migrating everything over from Puppets in Melbourne, the content was getting maybe 800 visitors per month. Not only did School of Puppetry regain that audience number, but exceeded it by oh, 1200 more hits per month. To the left is a graph of the stats for the year: the highest day was 28th Nov, with 2145 hits, 945 visitors, 876 newcomers, and only 69 returning visitors. Averaged out over the year, that makes for 971 hits per day, 428 visitors, 391 newcomers and only 37 regular visitors. However, the yearly total is 346 891 (!) hits, 152 985 visitors, 139 743 newcomers and 13 242 regulars. That’s not bad at all, and I expect it will probably continue to grow. It gets better, as the top 5 posts on this site have been viewed more than 50 000 times each, and have google page ranks of 2 (each).

What makes this all just the cherry on the whipped cream is that a lot of people have been buying patterns and books, and I’ve been able move past breaking even and get more into profits. It’s still nowhere near enough to live off of, but it’s at least allowing me to squirrel away some money for other things. Thank you to all my wonderful customers for helping me to help them: by buying a book or pattern you help keep this site going and help keep 90% of the info available for free. And more will be coming next year, as I continue the migration of tutorials and patterns; plus a lot more new stuff too.
