I’ll have some holiday themed puppetry tutorials online in the next couple of weeks, but in the meantime, here’s some more news about John Cox Creature Workshop. Their exhibit How to Make a Monster, featuring their animatronics, will be running once again at the Pine Rivers Heritage Museum, Queensland. Entry is free and the exhibition will run from 05 November 2011 – 29 January 2012.

Animatronics in France, England and Beijing
Hilary Talbot’s been posting some great stuff about animatronics lately. The first is a great insight into The Sultan’s Elephant, a lifesize animatronic that people the world over have gotten excited about, which Hilary actually visited in France.

What is animatronics?
Animatronics is perhaps one of the most fascinating types of puppets - but also one of the most complex. Animatronic puppets are basically ‘robots’; mechanically operated puppets, which can be manipulated from a distance.
