How to make a finger puppet: Ice cream pattern
I made this puppet a few years ago basically for fun: the idea was to make a finger puppet that suited my skill levels as an adult. It’s certainly not your average bear… er, ice cream cone… I took my very basic finger puppet pattern and added quite a few things to come up with the Ice Cream Finger Puppet. With easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions, plenty of pictures, and a set of patterns, you can make this fun puppet for home play or performance. With easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions, plenty of pictures, and a set of patterns, you too can make a foam puppet. You can use the patterns to make humans, monsters or animals! You may also want to check the Round Head Foam Puppet Pattern out (compare pattern differences below). Use the large links below to navigate the different sections.

How to make a muppet-type puppet: Round Head Foam Puppet Pattern
This is my first muppet-type puppet pattern, based on a puppet I made in 2007 - actually, a female puppet, but this one is male (well, unless you modify it that is!). It’s my most popular pattern, and I’ve had great feedback from users!!! This pattern is great for those of you who have The Foam Book, but wished it came with patterns! With easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions, plenty of pictures, and a set of patterns, you too can make a foam puppet. You can use the patterns to make humans, monsters or animals! Video: Round Head Foam Puppet Pattern demonstration
The video is an accompaniment to the Round Head Foam Puppet pattern. This is only a demonstration of the finished puppet. (PS. Yes, I know, I suck at performing! But then, I’m a builder not an performer!)

Angela,
... School of Puppetry on Free muppet-type puppet patterns: A listIf you're looking for a muppet pattern - that's free - you can try the one at Puppeteers Unite
http://puppeteersunite.com/?p=568
which has images and instructions. Another popular free pattern/instruction set is on offer here:
http://members.aol.com/bocashouse/MG/BlueBoy.html
If you don't mind spending a little bit of money, I recommend you buy a pattern. They are usually far better than the freebies, because they come with pictures, diagrams, etc.
You might also want to check out the forums at Muppet Central (forum.muppetcentral.com), which offer a lot of advice on making your own muppets.
As for the hand puppets: the pattern I have for my cactus glove puppet is in a .pdf file, which means you need a special program on your computer to view it. You can download that program for free here:
http://www.adobe.com/products/reader/. If it still doesn't work, let me know.
You can also find more patterns and instructions here:

I hope that helps!
Have a great night,
