Back from holidays; many updates made

Yes, the holidays are truly over. Not that they had actually happened for me; my main reason for ‘going on holiday’ was to stop posting updates for a while and take a break from continually churning out content. I need such a break  every now and then, as coming up with good content for School of Puppetry is time-consuming and towards the end of last year I produced a lot of highly researched stuff. But while you were all enjoying the end-of-year, I was still busy behind the scenes doing a number of different things to make the site better. Here’s a sample:

If that weren’t enough, I have set about rewriting and developing my marionette tutorial which hasn’t been migrated from my other site yet. This will be a completely revamped tutorial, with a number of versions depending on your choice of complexity. I have completed making my very own gallows - which I’ll post info on how to make later on - and am beginning work on the marionette itself. As this tutorial will be quite more in-depth than before, and requires a lot of pictures,

@Marla, Thanks for the updated info; I had already discovered the Archive.org link, but thanks anyway for sending it. I'm glad to see you're following it up, and have read posts about possible updates on the pattern via Puppets and Stuff - add my vote to the updates!

Hi I am looking for someone in Brisbane to fix our marionnet puppet. The strings have become extremely tangled so we need him 'restrung' and hopefully be able to obtain a stand for him to stand on rather than on a wall (which obviously doesn't work). Please let me know if you know of anyone in brisbane near the CBD who may be able to do this. Manythanks

@ Amanda,

If you haven't already, I recommend reading this article.

(I’m currently moving articles from one site to another, which is why you wouldn’t have found it on School of Puppetry)

The short answer is: I’m not aware of anyone in particular who offers puppet repair as a specific service. Your best bet is to contact UNIMA Australia (www.unima.org.au), the centre for Australian puppetry, and see if they can pass on your request to their members.

Sorry I can’t help further, but this is all I have been able to find out about local repairers.
